Puente Nuevo en El Tajo

The Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) in Ronda, located in the province of Málaga, Spain, is an iconic structure that gives the city its unique charm. This impressive bridge, built between 1759 and 1793, spans the spectacular El Tajo Gorge, which divides the city in two. The gorge is over 100 meters deep, and the bridge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Serranía de Ronda landscape.

The Puente Nuevo was designed to connect the old and new parts of the city. It is a masterpiece of 18th-century architecture and a symbol of Ronda's rich history. At the center of the bridge is a small chamber that was once used as a prison. According to some stories, prisoners were held here or even thrown into the gorge below. Ronda itself is known for its picturesque streets, Moorish influences, and traditional atmosphere. Visitors to the Puente Nuevo can enjoy the view, take photos, or stroll along the surrounding paths to experience the beauty of this historic town.
